Agilis Mist Eliminators

Controlling mist and droplet carry-over is an important consideration in any process system. Valuable product can be recaptured, treatment chemicals can be optimized and the environment protected by the simple addition of an Agilis Mist Eliminator for mist elimination.

The Agilis Advantage

Agilis Mist Eliminators use profile shaped blades that rely on impingement technology to separate the mist and droplets from the gas stream. The multi-hook design maximizes the droplet removal process. This technology has been proven to provide the most effective mist removal possible.

Even in low pressure drop systems the Agilis Mist Eliminator profile shape can remove up to 99.8% of all droplets down to 9 microns in diameter. These droplets, though invisible to the naked eye, are effectively and efficiently captured and drained away from the process stream where they can be returned to the process or disposed of as necessary.

Applications

All wet processes use some form of Mist Elimination. Typical examples are:

  • Steel Manufacturing
  • Pulp & Paper
  • Oil & Gas
  • Refining
  • Sugar
  • Process Food Production
  • Flue Gas Desulferazation
  • Power Generation
  • Electronics
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Land fill gas/liquid separation

Product Designs

Agilis Mist Eliminators come in two basic designs – the “HF” series for horizontal flow, and the “VF” design for vertical flow.

Any Agilis Mist Eliminator can be supplied in a wide variety of materials, from plastics to stainless steel. Each module can be provided with or without a frame depending on your needs. Vessels are often supplied.

Limit Drop - The Limit Drop is the smallest droplet that a Mist Eliminator can effectively collect. The limit drop ability of any unit is a function of many variables including gas velocity, density, viscosity and design. For typical designs Horizontal flow units have an average Limit Drop of 18 microns while Vertical flow units have an average Limit Drop of 21 microns.

Pressure Drop – Agilis Technologies Mist Eliminators have very low pressure drop (in the range of 0.4” w.c. to 3” w.c. for aggressive units). The pressure drop is tied directly to the gas velocity and density.

Flue Gas Desulfurization

Reducing the sulfur dioxide emissions from today’s Power Plants is an important and difficult problem. In Wet ESP and Wet Scrubbers the formation of small droplets effectively absorbers the acid vapors created in the system, but removal of these small droplets is easier said than done.

Agilis Technologies offers the VF-FGD style mist eliminator to prevent the carry-over of these small droplets.

The Agilis Technologies VF-FGD profile is provided in a uniform material construction. This means that the profile shape, the spacer and holder assembly are all manufactured in the same material. This provides you with the best possible chemical resistance and longest life. Each module assembly can be provided in an infinite range of lengths and module widths, making your installation far easier.

Additionally, the modules are compatible with many other manufacturers modules so there is no need to rework supports, spray wash systems or hold downs. Theses modules will even ‘nest’ with some other manufacturers profile shapes making them ideal for replacement parts.

The Agilis Technologies VF-FGD units is supplied in a wide variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel, polypropylene, Polysulfone and Noryl.

Features

  • Low Cost
  • Low Pressure Drop
  • High Efficiency (99.8%+)
  • Small Limit Drop removal
  • Easy installation
  • Modular design
  • Fits existing structural layout
  • Does not require rework of spray wash system

The Agilis Technologies VF-FGD has been designed specifically with the FGD market in mind. The inlet slope of the profile shape is enhanced to promote droplet removal while the elongated flat on the discharge side prevents the discharged gas from spinning upon leaving the mist eliminator.

Horizontal Flow Mist Eliminators

HF style Mist Eliminators (Horizontal Flow) have been designed to provide the optimum in collection and retention of liquid droplets. The unique design of the profile allows the fabrication of each blade in a one, two, three or four pass design. Increasing the number of passes allows the designer to increase the flow velocity thus reducing the design Limit Drop of the profile.

Performance (1” spacing)

Style Limit Drop Pressure Drop
HF1 19 microns 0.63” w.c.
HF2 17 microns 1.1” w.c.
HF3 14 microns 2.2” w.c.
HF4 10 microns 4.9” w.c.

Spacing

Profile spacing can also be altered to provide a more precise “tuning” of the HF blade to achieve the exact results the application requires. Most applications are designed as 1” spacing to optimize Limit Drop versus Pressure Drop.

Profile spacings can be provided in 7/8”, 1”, 1-1/4” and 1-1/2” increments.

Materials

Agilis HF style Mist Eliminators can be produced in the following materials:

  • Carbon Steel
  • 304L Stainless Steel
  • 316L Stainless Steel
  • Monel
  • Polypropylene
  • PVC/CPVC
  • Polysulfone
  • Others upon request

Vertical Flow Mist Eliminators

Controlling mist and droplet carry-over is an important consideration in all process industries. The Environment can be protected, valuable product can be captured and reused and your process system can be optimized through the simple and low cost addition of an Agilis Technologies Mist Eliminator.

The Agilis Advantage

Agilis Technologies Vertical Flow (VF) design mist eliminators uses the same effective profile shape with a collection hook that is used in our horizontal flow devices. The VF Style uses a sloped design to improve liquid drainage and to keep the blades clean in dirty environments. The absence of sharp corners, pockets and multiple small crevasses allows the Agilis unit to operate over a wide range.

Even in low pressure drop applications the Agilis Technologies will remove 99½% of all droplets down to 18 microns at the optimum design velocity of 1000 fpm. While the units do operate at far higher velocities the optimum velocity is determined by the maximum velocity, which will still allow the collected droplets to fall against the gas flow.

Features and Benefits

  • Low Pressure Drop
  • Plastic or Stainless Steel construction
  • Modular Design
  • Widths of 12” through 48”
  • Profile spacing of 7/8” and 1-3/4”
  • Easily cleaned

Limit Drop

The Limit Drop is defined as the smallest droplet that the Mist Eliminator can completely collect. This number is a function of the gas velocity, density, viscosity and blade spacing. The standard Limit Drop for an average unit operating at the optimum velocity is 21 microns.

Pressure Drop

The Pressure Drop is the amount of pressure it takes to push the gas past the mist eliminator and is a function of the gas velocity, density, and viscosity and blade spacing. The normal pressure drop for a standard unit is 0.25” w.c..

Materials

  • Stainless Steel - Multiple grades
  • Polypropylene – Multiple grades including PPTV, PPGC
  • PVC
  • Polysolfone
