Industrial Evaporative Cooling Systems

Agilis Industrial Evaporative Cooling Systems are a low cost and effective means to cool equipment for industrial applications.  Fin–Fan systems, Data Centers, Computer Co-Location Centers and Gas Transmission facilities are all applications that benefit from the addition of an Agilis Industrial Evaporative Cooler.

The most cost effective Evaporative Cooling Systems are media based and Agilis Technologies makes the best in the industry!

Benefits

  • Low Initial Cost
  • Low Pressure Drop
  • Low Maintenance
  • Low Operating Costs
  • High Effectiveness
  • Long Life
  • Very Cool Air Discharge

Evaporative Cooling using Media

Agilis Media based systems are well proven. This type of system uses a paper, fiberglass or plastic corrugated media to distribute water in a very thin sheet. Air, passing over this thin sheet of water, evaporates the water and lowers the air temperature, hence, Evaporative Cooling. Media based evaporative cooling systems are low cost, user friendly and offer up to 90% effectiveness.

The Agilis Media is supported in a frame manufactured in Stainless Steel and includes a water distribution header and dispersion pad. An average system, with normal care will last seven to ten years. Each Media Based system is designed in modular format so that multiple modules can be connected to make a very effective system. Systems can be designed as single pass or with return pumps form multi-pass design. Often a controller is supplied to start and stop the system so that it operates only when you need it!

Design Parameters

The design of an Agilis Industrial Evaporative Cooling system is simple! Each Agilis System is designed for an optimum 500 fpm air velocity through the Media. This limits the pressure drop to a very low 0.1” w.c. and maximizes the evaporation rate. The Modules can be any height from 12” to 144” tall and are supplied with either a 12” x 12” interlocking footprint or (in the case of larger systems) as a Custom designed unit.

Overview

The Agilis Media based Industrial Cooling System (ICS) is a self contained unit comprised of cellulose media, stainless steel housing, distribution header, distribution pads, automatic level control for the sump and a sump pump. The system is designed to be self-supporting and can be mounted on an existing structure from the top, sides or bottom.

Benefits

Frame

The frame shall be 304 stainless steel (or better grade) to prevent corrosion.  No galvanized or black metal shall be allowed.  The sump shall be fusion welded to prevent leakage.  The sump shall have an overflow drain and mounting flanges for base, side or wall mounting.  The sump shall have a 2” drain mounted at the base of the sump.  Customer shall specify mounting option.  The media shall be held in place with 304 stainless steel frame with a removable front bar to facilitate replacement of media when required.  Media shall be held in place by front bar and bottom grid.  No more than 1% of the inlet air shall be allowed to bypass the media.

Cooling Media

The cooling media shall be a cross-corrugated style and will be provided in widths of 3”, 4”, 6”, 8” or 12” as required for the application.  The cooling media shall include a distribution pad to assure proper introduction of the cooling water.

Water Distribution

The water shall be provided to the top of the cooling media and distribution pad through a header/spray system.  The Distribution System shall be manufactured in PVC or Polypropylene and shall be of sufficient size to provide water to the media to keep the media fully wetted.  The header shall be supplied with spray nozzles to provide initial water distribution.  The header shall include a water drain valve capable of completely draining the header system.  Water to the distribution header shall be supplied using a 120VAC pump.  Water to the distribution system shall be metered using a visible ball float-metering device.  The pump shall have a thermal overload switch and shall be level activated protecting against a low level situation.    Water shall be supplied to the system through the use of a float valve connected to the supply water source.

Necessary Supply Conditions

Water supply shall be 20 to 80 psig at 0.5 to 20 gpm. A  ½” P.O.C. is provided.  Electrical supply shall be 120 VAC, 1 phase, 60 Hz.  An electrical junction box is provided.  All external connections shall be by others.
